Finding the right running shoes is one of the most important and crucial things you must do if you are a professional or an amateur runner. Although usually people do not realize it, our needs as individuals are completely different; something which is very obvious when buying sports kit. People have different feet types and unless you buy something that is good for you, you are most likely to undergo some injuries or even suffer from typical and common problems related to running such as tendonitis, knee and hip pains, strains, or plantar fasciitis.
Before visiting your favourite sport store, you need to determine what your foot type is, so as to know in advance what shoes to ask for. The easiest way to do it is to consult with a specialist, although you can simply do it at home, taking a foot print on a paper bag.
Your foot print will reveal if you have a normal arch, a high arch or just flat feet – in this case the arch has an inward collapse. In this case, of flat feet, your arch moves a little bit too much, a phenomenon called over-pronating and makes your feet susceptible to injuries. When having a high arch you are actually an under-pronator, since the arch moves a little or not at all. In this case, your feet have to deal with the entire shock of the ground landing of your feet, which multiplies the effect of the shock.
